1. What are cookies?

We use four categories of cookies on NearbyTutor:

Enable core platform functions: authentication, session management, security. Cannot be turned off.

Remember your preferences to improve your experience — city, language, mode preferences.

Analytics

Help us understand how users interact with the platform so we can improve it. Data is aggregated and anonymous.

Marketing

Measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. We do not currently run retargeting ads.

3. Third-party cookies

Some cookies are placed by third-party services we use. These services have their own privacy and cookie policies:

Google Analytics (GA4) — Usage analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Razorpay — Payment processing. Razorpay may set cookies during the payment flow for fraud prevention. See Razorpay's Privacy Policy.
PostHog — Product analytics (self-hosted or cloud). Data is collected anonymously and is not sold.

We do not allow third-party advertising networks to place tracking cookies on NearbyTutor without your explicit consent.

4. How to manage cookies

Browser settings: You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the platform from functioning correctly (you will not be able to log in).

Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
Safari: Settings → Privacy → Block All Cookies
Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Cookie consent banner: When you first visit NearbyTutor, a cookie consent banner allows you to accept or decline optional cookie categories. You can change your preferences at any time from your account settings.

Opt-out links: To opt out of Google Analytics across all sites, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Cookies and children

We do not knowingly place non-essential cookies on devices used by children under 13. If a student account belongs to a minor, analytics and marketing cookies are disabled for that session.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new technologies or third-party integrations. Changes will be posted on this page. Where changes are significant, we will notify users via email or an in-app banner.
